Scarlet eyes lit up as sparks across the tattered battlefield, the Charizard and Rhydon currently locked in a battle of strength rather than skill. A loud scratch was heard as the claws of the red dragon scraped against the gravely skin of the drill Pokemon. The orange blur spread its massive wings for intimidation while still pushing against his dinosaur-like opponent then releasing a small flamethrower in its face.
Across the field a mysterious figure smirked. Dressed in a clean black suit with white undershirt and a jet black tie, surprisingly clean from the battle that had been commencing for longer than he could remember. The man seemed to not be phased that he was losing- a snarky glint even occasionally appearing in his eyes.
“You're doing better, Red,” he commented while their two partners duked it out. “Better than that weak boy I once saw before.” The boy, not looking an age over thirteen, gritted his teeth as he saw his partners pain when a lone stone edge hit the dragon directly. “But still not quite what I expected.”
“Dragon Rage!” the raven haired boy commanded. Red did not seem to care about what the older, more experienced man seemed to say, instead focused on the battle at hand. A blue blur passed through the mouth of the Charizard, a direct hit on the monster-esque Pokemon sending him flying across the room and having him crash into the wall.
The sleek brunette sighed and ran an hand through his hair, obliviously expecting this outcome. He pulled out the spherical object and let the beam encase the fainted beast in the sphere. “Yet you still surprise me.”
Red growled at this comment, looking at the rubble and what was once an office. The floor had dirt and specks of dust everywhere from a rogue Earthquake attack. A desk and papers were scattered in a corner, the desk toppled over. The one touch though was the giant hole in the wall from where the Rhydon once landed-a sign of who won.
“Well, I guess I'll be leaving.” With that out of the way, a sudden burst of smoke was released causing Red and his comrade to be blinded.
“Giovanni!” Alas, it was no use because as the sound of sirens blared outside the massive structure the man was nowhere to be seen. Team Rocket's leader was gone.
“You still beat me, Red. After all this time. . .” Green eyes flashed to his rival who had just beaten. “Congratulations, you deserve it.” The spiky brunette returned his Blastoise, his partner since day one as he saw his rival's electric rodent nuzzling him affectionately.
Scarlet eyes, still flaring a little, stared at him before moving towards him, hand outstretched. The two friends clasped hands, a jester of passing on title to title of sorts and making amends, yet Red couldn't help but feel overwhelmed.
I need to get stronger. I don't need to be “Champion.” I need to leave now.
