“Ski, ski! Skitty!” a tiny pink cat-like Pokemon trilled bounding across the Opelucid City streets. The Skitty sprinted with agility as it rant towards its owner, a tall, white bearded man standing in the middle of the quiet town.
“Ah, Lila!” the man bellowed as he kneeled down and spread his arms open wide. Lila bounded over to her owner and jumped into her owner’s waiting arms. The two shared a tender moment, the Skitty mewing happily as she nuzzled into the large man’s neck while he hugged her softly, but all moments must come to an end.
“Dra-Drayden?!” a purple- haired girl shrieked from behind him. The said gym leader quickly turned around to see his apprentice and fellow champion. The older gym leader blushed, although not seen due to his massive beard.
Clearing his through, he began to speak, “Ah, Iris, White, please forgive my sudden outburst. Lila was quite a surprise.” He looked down to his Skitty, who he was still holding and put her down on the ground, where she mewed in annoyance. The brunette tom-boy nodded her head silently, but his apprentice had other ideas.
“Since when did you have a Skitty, Drayden?!” Iris was astounded to see her mentor, a cold-hearted and ruthless battler, but kind trainer simply stop talking and nuzzle a Skitty.
Drayden smiled and petted Lila while answering, “Since the day I was born, we’ve grown up with each other.” Gawking, Iris could only make out a short gasp, while White smiled happily.
“You must be very close then, Drayden,” the champion spoke softly, petting Lila too who happily replied with purrs.
“Very, White,” the Opelucid City leader spoke softly. Drayden turned from the Unova leader to his rough and tomboyish friend. Seeing how she was still not moving, he moved to her side, gazing down on her and snapping his fingers.
Iris blinked rapidly before muttering, “I’m fine, a little shocked, but fine.” Drayden roared with laughter and White silently giggled. Soon, silence set in as the four could only hear the soft notes of a flute whipping through the wind.
